MARKETS

NovaCentrix products are designed to add value in markets by reducing application material costs, increasing production throughput, adding new functionality to existing products, and enabling new applications.

Photovoltaics

The PulseForge™ line of printed electronics manufacturing tools has application in both rigid and flexible solar cell development and manufacturing. PulseForge tools can sinter inks commonly used for conductor grids in milliseconds, saving time from oven processing, and improving the performance of metal inks when used on flexible substrates. PulseForge tools have also been shown to increase the crystallinity of semiconductor materials, such as a-Si.

In addition, Metalon inks are available specifically for bonding to transparent conductive oxide surfaces, even on flexible substrates.

Radio Frequency Identification Tags (RFID)

By drying and sintering inks on inexpensive low temperature substrates like PET and paper, PulseForge tools can lower cost for many types of tags, and enable the use of tags on new types of products. Achieving oven-cure performance with tags printed at high-speed on paper and plastic packaging is now possible. PulseForge tools and inks are designed to operate at print-line speeds, and won't be the bottleneck for in-line RFID printing.

Displays

By utilizing PulseForge tools on new generation printed display technologies, throughput can increase, and substrate material costs can decrease. PulseForge tools can be used to process thin-film semiconductor layers as well as the ultra-fine metallic interconnects. If it's printable, it's a candidate for improvement with PulseForge tools and Metalon conductive inks.

Flexible Circuits

Many flexible circuit manufacturers are waiting for the right moment to switch from traditional subtractive manufacturing processes, involving mask and etch techniques, to true additive printing of conductive pathways. PulseForge tools are capable of enabling printed metal inks to meet performance specifications on inexpensive flexible materials such as PET, PVC, polyethylene, and other plastics. Interconnect strips, membrane switches, and even new form factors for user interfaces are candidate applications.

Healthcare

Silver has long been used as a natural antimicrobial material. Silver in the form of discrete nanoparticles is easily integrated into new and existing products to impart new functionality. Clothing, medical products, water filtration, public contact surfaces, and other applications can realize additional value at low additional cost by the addition of nanoparticle silver.

Defense

Many nanoparticles, including aluminum, have application in defense products. By leveraging the unique properties of certain materials at the nanoscale, defense applications can become even more effective.
